Established in 1961, IIT-D was the fifth such institute after Kharagpur (1951), Bombay (1958), Madras (1959) and Kanpur (1959). IIT-D is known for producing top entrepreneurs, scientists, economists, politicians and lawyers for years, and has always kept a distinct place among the top five IITs, out of the 23 in India.
IIT-Delhi sets up sponsored research parks for research worth Rs 700cr

Several government institutions have also invested crores for doing collaborative research on a large scale with the IIT-D. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is planning to invest around Rs 500 crore to design and develop defence equipment in collaboration. At the special parks, which is being set up within the college campus, many big NGOs will also participate to promote industry collaboration.
Mridul Agarwal scores highest ever percentage in IIT-JEE exam

Mridul obtained AIR-1 in JEE-Main 2021. He scored 300 out of 300 marks and a 100 percentile in the March attempt, while he achieved 100 percentile in the February attempt. "It is important to keep faith in oneself. It is not impossible to create or break a record. For this, one has to prepare a strategy and work accordingly. Also, have the utmost trust in your mentors and institute, he says.
IIT Madras ranks best institution for 3rd year in a row

IIT Kanpur has got the fifth position and IIT Kharagpur has been ranked sixth in this national ranking. IIT Roorkee has been ranked seventh and IIT Guwahati at number eight. Jawaharlal Nehru University has come at the ninth position and Banaras Hindu University at the tenth position.

While some of the courses are in the offline in-person setting, many other colleges have opted for online courses in view of the pandemic. The courses range from designing to public policy and have no age bar to them. Most of the courses can also be accessed by students and working professionals as they have not been made exclusively for the enrolled students of IITs.
IIT-Delhi to launch new Post-Graduate programme in public policy

The programme has been curated with a focus on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and development. The course will be offered by IIT’s School of Public Policy (SPP). The programme will focus on various important aspects of student life such as developing critical thinking, analytical abilities, and different ethical practices.
IIT-K improves ranking in world's best varsity list

This year, IIT-K has been ranked as the 277th position in the list of world's best university compared to the 350th position in the last edition. "No other Indian University has been able to achieve such a significant growth in this year's rankings. Amongst the best universities in India, IIT-K has been ranked number 4, improving its performance by a rank.
IIT-Kanpur to study impact of immersion of bodies in water, soil

According to Prof Vinod Tare, advisor to the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), the development comes in the backdrop of mass graves being discovered on the banks of the Ganga in Rae Bareli, Unnao, Kanpur, Fatehpur and Kannauj, and fears about possible contamination of water and soil if the bodies were of Covid-19 patients.

The manufacturing challenge task force will be led by Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Professor In-charge, Innovation & Incubation, IIT Kanpur, Srikant Sastri, President, TiE Delhi-NCR, and Rahul Patel, Head of Strategic Initiatives, SIIC, IIT Kanpur. The SIIC had, last year, supported its incubated companies to develop indigenous products like Swasa N-95 mask and Noccarc V310 ventilator.
