Hockey World Cup

In all, 16 men’s and women’s teams from around the world will be vying to become the first-ever Hockey5s World Champions when the World Cup gets underway from January 24-31, 2024, in Muscat, Oman, the FIH said in a release on Sunday.  Both the Indian men's and women's teams qualified by winning the AHF Hockey 5s Asia Cup, which was the qualifying event, at Salalah.

Maninder Singh scored in 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, 15th, 20th, 24th, 25th and 29th minutes of the match. Mohammed Raheel (3', 4', 11', 12', 17', 26, 26'), Pawan Rajbhar (2', 6', 10', 13', 23'), Gurjot Singh (12', 20', 21', 27', 30'), Sukhvinder (4', 8', 16', 22'), captain Mandeep Mor (18', 23', 29'), and Jugraj Singh (15') were on target for India. For Japan, Masataka Kobori (29') scored the lone consolation in the match.

For India, Maninder Singh scored in the 10th, 18th, 28th and 30th minutes of the match while Mohammed Raheel struck in the 2nd, 15th and 24th minutes. Sukhvinder (13', 22'), Gurjot Singh (13', 23'), Pawan Rajbhar (19', 26'), Mandeep Mor (8'), and Dipsan Tirkey (9') were also on target. For Bangladesh, Sawon Sarowar (2') scored the lone goal.

India also qualified for the FIH Women Hockey 5s World Cup Oman 2024, finishing first in the Elite Group.

For India, Navjot Kaur (7’, 10, 17’), Monika Dipi Toppo (22’), Mahima Choudhary (14’), Mariana Kujur (9’, 12’) and Jyoti (21’, 26’) were on target. For Malaysia, Zati Muhamad (4’, 5’), Dian Nazeri (10’, 20’) and Aziz Zafirah (16’) were on target.

On this occasion, the pools and match schedule of the tournament were revealed. Malaysia is in Group A with Argentina, Australia, and Chile, while Germany, France, South Africa, and Egypt are in Group B, India, Spain, Korea, and Canada are in Group C, and the Netherlands, Belgium.

The camp will conclude on May 21 ahead of the team's trip to Europe where they will take on Belgium, Great Britain, Netherlands and Argentina in the remaining season of FIH Hockey Pro League 2022-2023. The core group called-up for the national coaching camp includes Krishan Bahadur Pathak, Sreejesh Parattu Raveendran, Suraj Karkera, Pawan Malik, Prashant Kumar, Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh.
