India's junior men’s hockey team faced a tough match against Spain in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Malaysia 2023, succumbing to a 4-1 defeat at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Rohit managed to score India's only goal in the 33rd minute. However, Spain dominated from the start, with Pol Cabre Verdiell (1', 41’) and Andreas Rafi (18', 60’) securing goals for their team.
Spain took an early lead in the first quarter through Verdiell's field goal. Despite India's efforts to retaliate, Spain maintained control. The second quarter saw Spain scoring again, this time with Rafi converting a penalty corner.
India struggled but showed determination in the third quarter, with Rohit finally finding the net. However, Spain swiftly responded, increasing their lead through another goal from Verdiell.
As the game progressed, India pushed harder but was unable to breach Spain's defense. Rafi scored his second goal from a penalty stroke late in the final quarter, sealing Spain's victory.
