Swiatek overcomes Pegula to clinch second straight Qatar Open title
Swiatek had already lost to Pegula this year at United Cup, but the No.1 seed avenged that defeat in the 1-hour and 9-minute final on Saturday night to capture her first WTA Tour title of the year, and the 12th title of her career overall. She dropped only five games all week en route to the title. "I'm really happy that I could kind of find more balance, compared to how I felt at the beginning of the season," Swiatek was quoted as saying by WTA.
French Open badminton: Viktor Axelsen clinches men's singles title
The 28-year-old produced a masterful performance to take the title in straight games (21-14, 21-15), falling to his knees in jubilation after 43 minutes of play. With this win, Axelsen became the most successful player on the men's world tour, overtaking Japan's Kento Momota with 16 wins in 21 finals compared to Momota's 15 from 21. On the other hand, Gemke has yet to win a game from the maestro but will be happy with his improving form after an injury-plagued 2021 season.

Chirag and Satwiksairaj, the seventh seeds, will face either Chinese Taipei's Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han or English duo Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in what will be their second-ever BWF Super 750 final as a team. The first incidentally came at the 2019 French Open, where the Indian duo lost the title decider to Indonesian aces Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

Serena Williams wins first singles match since 2021 French Open
The 23-time Grand Slam champion, whose long-awaited return from injury this year ended in an early exit at Wimbledon, won 6-3, 6-4 in just under two hours at the National Bank Open, DPA reports. It was the first time Williams, in only her second appearance of the year, had won a singles match since beating Danielle Collins at Roland Garros on June 4, 2021. Wimbledon champion, Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina also won her first match since her triumph at the All England Club, although she needed three hours to overcome Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.
Nadal, Ruud, Cilic and Rune ride French Open performance to move up in ATP Rankings list
Novak Djokovic remained at the top of the rankings chart with 8770 for one more week before his imminent drop from the chart as he loses points from last year's French Open and the upcoming Wimbledon Championship. Daniil Medvedev remained in second place with 8160 while Alexander Zverev, with 7795 points stayed in the third place while Nadal moved up one place and is fourth with 7535. Stefanos Tsitsipas, who dropped to a place to fifth position.
Garcia, Mladenovic beat Gauff, Pegula to win French Open women's doubles title
2016 champions and French hopes Garcia and Mladenovic took 1 hour and 44 minutes to register a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win on Court Philippe Chatrier and capture their second Roland Garros title as a team. Former WTA Doubles World No 1 Mladenovic also claimed the title alongside Timea Babos in both 2019 and 2020 and she now has won a total of four Roland Garros women's doubles titles.

Two years ago, Swiatek shocked the field by winning her first Roland Garros title as an unseeded teenager. This time, the polish star claimed her second French Open title by winning a staggering 35th consecutive match, tying Venus Williams for the best winning streak this century. Venus' historic run of 35 straight victories came in 2000. If Swiatek manages to win her next match, she will hold the best winning streak of the century alone.
Havlickova beats Sierra to clinch French Open junior crown
The 17-year-old Havlickova is the fifth Czech winner of the title following Renata Tomanova (1972), Regina Marsikova (1975), Hana Mandlikova (1978) and Linda Noskova (2021). Havlickova now owns a 29-6 record in the junior competition this year, having also won the Criciuma Grade A tournament in February as well as reaching finals in Vrsar and Offenbach.
Norway's Ruud sets up French Open title clash with Nadal
Prior to his French Open run to the final, Ruud had never reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal and his run to the final in Paris will see him rise to a career-high of world No. 6 on the ATP Rankings. The eighth seed will face Nadal, winner of a record 21 Grand Slams, for the first time as he bids to deny the Spaniard a record-extending 14th Roland Garros crown and 22nd Grand Slam singles title.
