Delhi records 180 fresh Covid cases, highest in last 6 months
With the new Covid cases - the highest single day rise after June 16, the capital's tally has climbed to 14,42,813, while the number of active cases also have climbed to 782, the highest in last five and half months. According to the Health Department, the city had reported highest 792 active covid cases on July 10. However, no Covid death has been reported in the capital city in last 24 hours, and death toll remains at 25,103.

The advent of new covid variant- Omicron with already present Delta variant has been the issue of concern worldwide. Centre advises states to follow five-fold strategy amid Omicron scare
The states have been asked to put in place the local containment measures by the District and local administration when either the test positivity increases beyond 10 per cent or occupancy of oxygenated beds increases beyond 40 per cent. The states have been advised to follow the five-fold strategy of Containment, Testing & Surveillance, Clinical Management, Covid Safe Behavior and Vaccination.

The number of active cases has also seen a surge at 624, highest in last five months. As per the Delhi Health Department data, the city had total 657 active cases on July 16.
UP to be self-reliant in oxygen production soon
Over 550 oxygen plants have been operationalised in the state while another 10 are expected to become functional soon. A government spokesperson said, "The government had sanctioned 561 oxygen plants when the demand for medical oxygen had surged sharply at the peak of the second Covid-19 wave in April and May to ensure that there is adequate supply in case of another wave, and even otherwise to meet any kind of medical emergency.
Bharat Biotech seeks approval for Phase 3 trials of intranasal vaccine
The Hyderabad-based vaccine maker has submitted the application and awaiting approval for Phase 3 trials of intranasal vaccine (BBV154). "Intranasal vaccines have the potential to prevent against transmission. An intranasal vaccine as a booster dose will be easier to administer in mass vaccination campaigns," a source told IANS.
Opened Covaxin vial can be stored for 28 days, says Bharat Biotech
Each vial of Covaxin contains 20 doses. The vaccine is approved for use under the 28-day multi-dose vial policy from Drugs Controller General of India and the WHO Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL).
