India permits use of Sputnik-V vax in emergency situations

The Drugs Controller General India (DCGI) gave its nod for the emergency use of the vaccine based on recommendations of the the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) and careful consideration, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHF) said on Tuesday.
Dr. Reddy's Laboratories gets authorisation for Sputnik V in India

This is as per the provisions of the New Drug and Clinical Trials rules, 2019 under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. In September 2020, Dr Reddy's had partnered with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) to conduct the clinical trials of Sputnik V and distribute the vaccine in India.
India reports 1,61,736 new Covid cases

With this, India has once again taken its spot as the second-worst hit nation in terms of infections after the US. In the same period, an additional 879 people succumbed to the disease, which increased the total death toll to 1,71,058. India is now the fourth-worst Covid affected country worldwide after the number of active cases rose to 12,64,698.

Delhi's daily Covid tally crosses 11K, 72 new deaths

With 72 more deaths reported on Monday, the death toll has risen to 11,355, and the cumulative fatality rate to 1.54 per cent.With the new cases, Delhi's Covid tally has reached 7,36, 688 including 6,87,238 patients who have recovered so far, while the cumulative positivity rate stands at 4.71 per cent.
Covid-19 fear grips Bihar, cases rise 4 times in 8 days

According to the data released by the state Health Department, the number of active cases is increasing with the rise in the number of infected people. In Bihar, 864 infected persons were identified on April 4, while 245 were cured the same day. The number of active patients in the state on this day was 3,560, after which the pace picked up fast.

India reports 1.68 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases, 904 deaths

India is now the fourth-worst Covid affected country worldwide after the number of active cases rose to 12,01,009. A total of 75,086 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 1,21,56,529 with a recovery rate of 90.44 per cent.
11.08 lakh active Covid caseload, India breaks 7-month record

The five states of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala cumulatively account for 70.82 per cent of India's total active cases. Maharashtra alone accounts for 48.57 per cent of the total active caseload of the country. Chhattisgarh is on the second place with 7.75 per cent active caseload, Karnataka 5.57 per cent, Uttar Pradesh 5.31 per cent, Kerala 3.62 per cent and rest of India at 29.18 per cent.
Up to 65% new Covid infections in Delhi below 35 yrs: Kejriwal

"Fourth wave of Covid-19 in Delhi has made the situation worse than what it was during the third peak. Over 10,000 Covid-19 cases were reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours, this is a worrisome situation, Kejriwal said.
