MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized during his weekly media briefing that Kaul, a UK national, arrived in India on February 22, highlighting that the entry of foreign nationals is subject to the sovereign authority of the country. Kaul expressed her disappointment on social media, stating that she was denied entry to India despite being invited as an esteemed delegate by the Government of Karnataka, a state ruled by the Congress party.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, stated, "Congress president Kharge has spoken with her today, and we will find a way forward." This comes after Mamata Banerjee's decision for TMC to go solo in the polls, blaming Congress for the stalemate.

Deora's resignation comes after a prolonged and unfruitful wait for assurances from the party, particularly regarding contesting from Mumbai South in the upcoming general election—a seat represented by his family for decades. However, Ramesh alleged that the timing of Deora's resignation was premeditated by the Prime Minister.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan revealed that Milind Deora had desired to contest from the South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat, but the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance had decided not to disturb the sitting MP.

He also said that the accident happened due to a change in electronic interlocking.
