Congress' internal conflict heading towards truce?

Similarly, the Gandhi family is reaching out each person in the "G-23" group, who have been demanding a drastic overhaul of the party's functioning, either personally of through an emissary. The G-23 met at senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's residence on Thursday after Hooda's meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
Majority in G-23 are not averse to Sonia's leadership

After issuing a statement on "collective" and "inclusive" leadership, Congress dissenters in the group have stated that they are not averse to Sonia Gandhi's leadership but removal of those responsible for party's loss is a must. This is contrary to what Kapil Sibal had said about Gandhis stepping aside. Many have called it his personal view. The statement issued on Wednesday by the group does not mention removal of the Gandhi family which indicates that both the parties want an amicable solution to the problem.
Azad, Sonia to meet for sorting out issues, Rahul, Priyanka may also join in

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is leading the 'G-23' group demanding sweeping organisational changes in the party, is likely to meet party interim chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday to address the grievances of the group sources said. Its likely that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will also be present at this meeting. On Wednesday, 'G-23' leaders met at Azad's residence to chalked out their strategy ahead of the meeting.
Cong 'dissenters' say collective, inclusive leadership the way forward

Congress dissenters, or the 'G-23' group seeking a sweeping overhaul in the party's functioning, met at senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's residence and over Kashmiri food, discussed their strategy to take their point to the party leadership, specially the Gandhi family. Shankarsinh Vaghela and Sandeep Dikshit were also taking part. Vaghela has been in the Congress in the past but his present status is not clear.
Sonia Gandhi appoints five leaders to assess post-poll situation

Six days after the Congress' near washout in five Assembly elections, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday appointed five senior leaders to assess the post-poll situation in these states. The leaders would suggest organisational changes after interacting from MLA candidates and important leaders. Rajya Sabha MP Rajani Patil will oversee Goa, Jairam Ramesh Manipur, Ajay Maken Punjab, Jitender Singh Uttar Pradesh and Avinash Pandey Uttarakhand.
Sidhu resigns as Punjab Congress chief

Days after facing humiliating defeat in Punjab from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday resigned from the post. In a one-line resignation to party President Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu wrote, "I hereby resign as President (PPCC)."
Congress' G-23 took defensive stance at CWC meet

The group of dissenters within the Congress, also known as G-23, took a defensive stance during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Sunday, as their representatives raised only 'technical points' and did not press for a change in the leadership as they had demanded in 2020.

DMK slams ally Congress for election debacle in five states

The DMK has lashed out at the Congress for the debacle in the recent elections to the five states. In its editorial on Monday, the party mouthpiece 'Murasoli' said that the lethargic attitude of the Congress to unite other opposition parties in its fold was the reason for the drubbing in the polls. The editorial also said that opposition unity was the need of the hour to oust the BJP from the centre.
CWC authorises Sonia to undertake 'comprehensive' organisational changes

"The recent Assembly election results of five states are a cause of serious concern for the Indian National Congress. The party accepts that due to shortcomings in our strategy, we could not effectively expose the misrule of BJP state governments in four states and overcome the anti-incumbency in the state of Punjab in the short time after effecting a change of leadership," said the CWC resolution.
