Bihar Assembly Speaker rejects no-confidence motion, refused to resign

The ruling JD-U and RJD brought the no-confidence motion against Sinha after they came to power in Bihar. Sinha rejected the no-confidence motion, saying it was not in accordance with the law and hence, he had decided not to resign from his post. After the formation of the new government in Bihar, the BJP became an opposition party. Hence, the ruling JD-U and RJD were thinking that Sinha may resign from his post himself.

Modi also said that Singh, a RJD leader and son of its state unit chief Jagadanand Singh, came out of bail after depositing Rs 60 lakh, and demanded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sack him from his cabinet. "In a case of cheating, Sudhakar Singh was in jail for a long time. The court had given bail only after he deposited Rs 60 lakh. Sudhakar Singh applied for the bail from a lower court which turned down his plea.

"Earlier, saala (wife's brother) was influential, now jeeja (sister's husband)," Janak Ram said in a reference to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's brothers-in-law Sadhu Yadav and Subhash Yadav being very influential and dictating terms when he was Chief Minister and now Shailesh Kumar in the government of his son, Tej Pratap Yadav.

He was sitting alongside Tej Pratap Yadav and other officials of environment and forest department.

BJP prepares strategy for party's statewide expansion in Bihar

The BJP has prepared a strategy to win more than 35 of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In a meeting chaired by J.P. Nadda, in the presence of Amit Shah at the party's national headquarters, the party has given clear instructions to its leaders in the state to strengthen the party's base in the whole of Bihar, party sources said. Senior party leaders associated with the state were told to expose the "deceitful" alliance by going among the public and winning more than 35 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they added.
Nitish Kumar distributes portfolios, retains home and general administration

After the cabinet expansion, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has kept his previous portfolios including home ministry, general administration, cabinet secretariat, vigilance with himself. He has given the health ministry to his deputy Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, along with road construction, urban development and housing and rural development.

Nitish Kumar has called for the first Cabinet meeting at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday where the new Ministers will receive their portfolios. "The distribution of the various state departments will be done during the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Now Bihar will move on the path of development with full speed," the Chief Minister added. Nitish Kumar is likely to retain the Home Minister and General Administration portfolios in the Bihar government and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav will become the new Health Minister. JD-U's Vijay Kumar Choudhary is expected to become the new Bihar Finance Minister.
