'Vote katwa' politics takes centrestage in Bihar

This 'vote katwa' politics has significantly elevated the importance of smaller parties in the state, especially after the Gopalganj bypoll, and the same strategy would likely to be replicated in Kurhani Assembly bypoll and probably in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as well. The talks about 'vote katwa' politics gained momentum after BJP leaders started claiming that the candidate of VIP Nilabh Kumar will help JD-U's Manoj Kushwaha by cutting the upper caste vote of BJP in Kurhani.

The Panduka Road bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 196 crore and its length is 1.5 km and it will directly connect NH 19 to NH 39. With this, the distance between Rohtas and Garhwa in Jharkhand will reduce by just 63 km from the present 200 km. This bridge will also address the traffic jam of NH 19 which frequently takes place in Rohtas, Kaimur and Aurangabad districts.
RCP Singh attacks Nitish Kumar, asks him to lift liquor ban in Bihar

"Due to the liquor ban, the Bihar government is losing a big chunk of revenue and it is directly affecting the common people. The developments of public welfare works are not taking place in Bihar. The roads of rural areas are having pathetic shapes. Hence, Nitish Kumar should leave his obstinacy on liquor ban. He should lift the ban to improve excise tax collection in state exchequer," Singh said.

Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, announced the name of Kushwaha as the candidate of the Grand Alliance. Kushwaha is a Janata Dal (United) leader and also a former Rajya Sabha member. "On the request of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, our party's National President Lalu Prasad Yadav has decided to give the seat to JD(U). The name of Manoj Kushwaha is finalised as a candidate from the JD(U). He is our candidate of the Grand Alliance. All parties which are part of the Grand Alliance agreed on his name," Siddiqui said.
'Used to look out for girls visiting campus': Nitish reminisces about student days

"When I was studying in Engineering College Patna, there were only male students studying there. Whenever a girl of a family came to the campus, the entire students went there to see her. There was no co-education at that time. When I became the Chief Minister of the state, I promoted girls students with various schemes to empower them. Our special focus is on female students and a number of them are studying in engineering colleges now," he said while addressing students and teachers on the occasion of Education Day ceremony in Sri Krishna Memorial Hall at East Gandhi Maidan.

His statement came after Rohini Acharya slammed him for playing a role of 'vote katwa' (vote-cutter) in the Gopalganj bypoll. Sadhu Yadav's wife Indira Yadav got 8,000 odd votes in the by-poll while the margin of defeat for RJD candidate Mohan Prasad Gupta was just 1,700 odd votes. Following the result, Rohini Acharya called Sadhu Yadav "Kans Mama" and said that due to him and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, BJP won the Gopalganj bypoll.
'Ghazwa-e-Hind' will not be allowed in Bihar: Ramdev

He made this statement while inaugurating a 111-feet tall statue of Lord Shiva at the ashram of revered spiritual guru -- 'Pilot Baba'. The height of the Trishul in the statue is 60-feet. "Ghazwa-e-Hind will be not allowed to flourish in Bihar by those who believe in "Sar Tan Se Juda" ideology. The duo of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are good enough to deal with them," Ramdev added.
Assembly bypoll: RJD candidate wins in Mokama

Expecting the win, a large number of male and female supporters assembled at the official residence of Anant Singh in Patna. Her son Abhishek Singh said: "There was no contest in Mokama. We knew that the battle of Mokama would be won convincingly on the day of nomination. Now the election result proved it. We have done special preparation to celebrate the day of victory. We are offering Rasgulla and Laddu to every person assembled in our house."
