Bihar alliance, BJP playing snakes and ladders over hooch tragedy

Over 1,000 people have lost their lives in hooch tragedies and state exchequer is losing Rs 30,000 crore as revenue per year, the BJP claimed. Though Chief Minister and JD(U) President Nitish Kumar always takes credit of liqior ban in the state, whenever a hooch tragedy occures, he puts the onus of it on every political party which supported the Bill in the Legislative Assembly.

He also targeted the BJP leaders, and said, "BJP leaders should go in public and make people aware about the benefits of liquor ban in Bihar." "Liquor ban in Bihar was not my decision. Every party supported the law and then it was implemented. The women of the state had a strong demand for this law and it has benefitted a large section of the society," Nitish Kumar said.

BJP leads in Bihar's Kurhani bypoll

After the fourth round of counting, Kedar Gupta was ahead with 15,493 votes, while Manoj Kushwaha could garner only 14,552. The BJP candidate is leading by 941 votes. Besides these two candidates, Nilabh Kumar of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and Gulam Murtaza Ansari obtained 708 and 736 votes respectively in this constituency after the fourth round.

After gap of nearly two months, Bihar RJD chief visits party office

Sources have said that Jagadanand Singh was not pleased with the top leadership of RJD and its close proximity with Nitish Kumar. After his son Sudhakar Singh was forced to resign from the post of agriculture minister of Bihar, Jagadanand Singh refused to come to the RJD office. He had also offered to resign from the post. Singh last went to the party office on October 2 and then went to his village. He also stayed away from the party activities till Tuesday.

The Panduka Road bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 196 crore and its length is 1.5 km and it will directly connect NH 19 to NH 39. With this, the distance between Rohtas and Garhwa in Jharkhand will reduce by just 63 km from the present 200 km. This bridge will also address the traffic jam of NH 19 which frequently takes place in Rohtas, Kaimur and Aurangabad districts.
