Punjab, Haryana CM fail to reach consensus on SYL canal issue

Bhagwant Mann clearly said that Punjab has no surplus water to share with Haryana. He sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to provide additional water to Haryana either from the Ganga or the Yamuna river basins to overcome its shortage.
Akali Dal chief warns Punjab CM against negotiating on river water

In a statement here, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President said it was shocking that the Chief Minister had not made the Punjab government's stand clear before holding a meeting with his Haryana counterpart on this issue. He said Punjab had an exclusive right over its river waters and Haryana being a non-Riparian state had no locus standi in the matter. "There is nothing to discuss here with Haryana."
AAP government in Punjab wins vote of confidence

The lone Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BSP MLAs were present in the House but did not speak against the motion. A total of 93 legislators voted in favour of the confidence vote. "I congratulate the people of Punjab for naming the Mohali airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. I will try to get Halwara airport named after Kartar Singh Sarabha," Bhagwant Mann said.

In a statement, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the government will approach the Supreme Court against the arbitrary and anti-democratic decision of the Governor to cancel the permission of holding a special session of the Vidhan Sabha after giving permission for it.

Governor Banwari Lal Purohit gave nod to the gazette notification of 'One MLA, One Pension' amendment.In a statement, the Chief Minister said in the last 75 years, the elected representatives have turned into political executives by drawing extravagant salaries and pensions from the state exchequer. He said the entire burden of the pension facility extended to these leaders is met by taxpayers.

Mann said this is another attempt made by the Centre to undermine the authority of the states, and categorically said the Union government should not consider the states as puppets. Punjab CM appears in court over rioting case

The AAP leaders led a party protest in January 2020 against the then Congress government led by Capt Amarinder Singh against the power tariff hike. However, the court had granted exemption from appearance to another Cabinet minister Aman Arora. A case was registered against AAP leaders, including Mann and Cheema, on charges of pelting Chandigarh Police with stones in a demonstration on January 10, 2020.
