Along with Manish Sisodia, police has arrested 80% of party's leadership: AAP
Terming the situation a sign of Emergency, AAP leaders said that the Centre is doing the same thing that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi did during the 1975 Emergency. Accusing the Central government of wrongful detention, the AAP leaders alleged that while detention is for one or two hours, their leaders had been detained for almost 24 hours and it was illegal to do so.
Most CBI officers were against Sisodia's arrest: Kejriwal
Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal said: "I am told that most CBI officers were against Manish's arrest. All of them have huge respect for him and there is no evidence against him. But the political pressure to arrest him was so high that they had to obey their political masters." Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched nationwide protests against Sisodia's arrest.
'Dirty politics': Kejriwal on Sisodia's arrest
Reacting to the development, Kejriwal tweeted: "Manish is innocent. His arrest is dirty politics. There is a lot of anger among the people due to the arrest of Manish. Everyone is watching". In the same tweet, he said that people understand everything. "People will respond to this. This will boost our spirits further. Our struggle will get stronger", he said. The Aam Admi Party condemned Sisodia's arrest.
Concrete proposal on alliance to come up in Congress plenary
Addressing a press conference here, Congress' Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera said, "The issue will be discussed in the plenary session and we will come up with a concrete proposal on alliance." The grand old party is trying to strike a balance between the political parties which are opposed to the idea of Congress leading the alliance.
Delhi Mayor agrees for fresh standing committee poll
A day after it was adjourned following an exchange of heated arguments between the AAP and BJP councillors, the MCD House resumed on Friday to hold election to the standing committee. As the proceedings resumed, the BJP councillors started raising slogans demanding fresh elections for the powerful standing committee besides ban on mobiles inside the polling booth.

While the Mayor is the nominal head of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), she/he has very limited powers like calling meetings of the House and administratively managing the same. The real power lies with the Standing Committee, which effectively manages the corporation with financial functions, approval to projects, discussing, finalising and implementing.

Shelly Oberoi: From DU prof to MCD mayor
Before embarking on a political journey, Oberoi completed her Phd in management studies from IGNOU's School of Management Studies. Along with Delhi University, she had also taught at several other universities like NMIMS, IP and IGNOU. Upon joining AAP as an activist, Shelly went on to become the party's state Mahila Morcha vice-president and continued till 2020.
