L-G approves Jan 24 as date for Delhi Mayoral polls

The note from the L-G's office said: "I have perused the note at pre pages and as proposed, I approve the convening of the meeting of Municipal Corporation of Delhi on January 24 at 11 a.m." On January 12, the AAP-led Delhi government had proposed four dates -- January 18, 20, 21 and 24 -- for holding the polls to L-G V.K. Saxena, underlining that the MCD is without a Mayor for the last eight months.

2020 Delhi riots: Court frames charges of funding violence against Tahir Hussain

Hussain has been accused of supporting the riots using funds that were obtained illegally through money laundering. "Accordingly, a charge for the offence under Section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), punishable under Section 4 of PMLA, is framed against accused Tahir Hussain, read over and explained to him to which he pleaded not guilty and claimed trial," Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat said.
