Patent law may curb unethical human-genome editing
The World Health Organisation has explored international governance tools for human genome engineering, but as long as individual countries are allowed to set and enforce their own policies, the possibility of people engaging in medical tourism to other countries to circumvent domestic prohibitions remains a risk, the researchers said in a paper published by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Galaxy Watch4 gets a Walkie Talkie app
The app uses Bluetooth to look for nearby friends and create your Walkie-Talkie channel, reports Android Central. Similar to Apple's own Apple Watch app, Samsung's walkie-talkie app would allow users to have instant conversations, just like if they were using a walkie-talkie. At present, only owners of the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series can use it to talk to one another, while older-generation watchers from the company are compatible or able to install the app.
Smartphone sales grew 10.8% in Q2 2021: Report
According to a report by Gartner, overall global mobile phone sales grew 10.2 per cent despite supply constraints due to Covid-19 related production disruption and component shortages. Samsung expanded its 5G smartphone lineup at entry and midrange prices to target growth opportunities in 5G segments in the second quarter of 2021. The company maintained the number position among the top five global smartphone vendors.
Xiaomi invests in core communications chipmaker for automobiles
Xiaomi invested in Motorcomm through the Hubei Xiaomi Yangtze River Industrial Fund. Currently, the size of the investment and other terms of the deal were not disclosed, reports GizmoChina. Motorcomm's business scope includes technology development, industrial automation, automobiles, consulting, and other technical services as well. Xiaomi is actively investing in various companies and technologies related to the automotive industry.

Galaxy S22 series to enter mass production in Nov this year: Report
The smartphones in the lineup will be available for purchase from January 2022 and all the models in the series are expected to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chipset, reports mydrivers.com. In terms of specifications, the upcoming series may feature a new 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom capabilities as opposed to a high resolution sensor with poor optical zoom.
Windows 11 to arrive on October 5
