Punam, won the bronze medal in the 2014 CWG in the women's 63kg category and gold medal in the 69kg category in the 2018 at Gold Coast, started on a disappointing note as she failed to lift 95kg in her first attempt. However, she recovered well to successfully lift the same weight in her second attempt and then went on to equal her personal best and national record of 98kg in snatch in the final attempt to keep herself in a medal hunt.

Asia Cup 2022 schedule announced, India to face Pakistan on August 28
The schedule for the 15th edition of the Asian tournament was officially announced by Jay Shah, chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Twitter. Ten out of the thirteen games including the final on September 11 are set to be played in Dubai, with the rest to take place in Sharjah. UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong will play a qualifying round with the winner joining India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in the main tournament.

CWG 2022: Luck favours Harjinder Kaur as she wins bronze for India, seventh medal in weightlifting
Harjinder Kaur from Mehas village near Nabha in Punjab lifted 93 in snatch and 119 in clean and jerk for a below-par total of 212 kg in the competition and at one time thought that she had lost out on a medal as Alexis Ashworth of Canada, the eventual silver medallist, lifted her season's best of 123 kg in clean and jerk to shoot up to 214 in the standings.
