After the team announcement, Karthik expressed his happiness on Twitter and wrote, "Dreams do come true".

As per Srikkanth, Shami could have given India early wickets with the new-ball Down Under. The 62-year-old former cricketer's reaction came after the BCCI announced India's 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, starting October 22. Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami was included as part of a 4-man standby but he is not in the main squad. Real Sociedad confirmed on Monday that Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq had suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee in their 2-1 defeat away to Getafe on Sunday. Sadiq had to limp out of the game in the first half and tests showed the full extent of the injury on Monday. The 25-year-old will need an operation and is unlikely to recover before the end of the season.
