Indian team reaches Nottingham ahead of Test series against England
They are having their training session in Nottingham ahead of the first Test against England on August 4 at the Trent Bridge Cricket Stadium. After a break of three weeks after the World Test Championship final in Southampton, the Indian team had a practice match against the County Select XI from July 20-22. Post that, the Indian team continued to train till their final training session on Friday at the Chester-le-Street ground in Durham.
Zverev beats Khachanov to clinch gold medal in men's singles
The 24-year-old Zverev, yet to win a Grand Slam, was in imperious form during the final which lasted an hour and 19 minutes. He also became the first German male tennis player to win a singles Olympic gold. It was an easy straight-sets win for the world No. 5 Zverev to beat a misfiring Khachanov in the final after getting the better of top seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the semifinals.
Olympics hockey: Germany, Australia win to set up semifinal meeting
Australia, who topped Pool A, were meeting the fourth-placed team in Pool B but they could not have taken things lightly as the Dutch are a force to reckon with in world hockey. Their clash on Sunday ended in a 2-2 stalemate at the end of regulation time. But, in extra time, Australia won 3-0 in a shootout tie-breaker.

Schauffele said grabbing the Olympic gold medal is the biggest win of his career. "I really wanted to win for my dad. I am sure he is crying somewhere right now. I kind of wanted this one more than any other." India's Anirban Lahiri had a one-over in the final round and finished joint 42nd with three others with a five-under for the tournament. Udayan Mane was 56th with a one-over in the final round and a total of three-over.
Chennaiyin FC sign Mirlan Murzaev to bolster attack
The striker is the second international recruit for the Chennai-based franchise ahead of the 2021/22 season and his addition will bolster the side's frontline with Jobby Justin and Rahim Ali already part of the attack. Olympics: Barbora-Katerina clinch women's doubles gold
Barbora, the French Open singles and doubles champion this year, and Katerina defeated the Belinda-Viktorija pair 7-5, 6-1, in the one hour and 25 minutes, becoming the first team from the Czech Republic to claim the women's doubles gold. Barbora and Katerina were the third Czech duo to reach the women's doubles Olympic final. The reigning French Open champions became the first from their country to prevail in any of those finals.
Tokyo Olympics Hockey: Nothing to lose for Indian women in QF against Australia
The team had left Indian shores for Tokyo with the target of reaching the quarters and they managed that by finishing fourth with two wins and three defeats in the six-team Pool A. The Indian women's team had spent some anxious hours after they ended their engagements in the preliminary Group A with six points following a 4-3 win over South Africa as they waited for the result of the match between defending champions Great Britain and Ireland.
Tokyo Olympics: Satish bows out in quarterfinals as India's challenge in men's boxing ends
Satish was the first boxer from his category in India to qualify for the Olympics. He entered the ring at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena on Sunday despite seven stitches above his left eye and chin during his pre-quarterfinal win against Ricardo Brown of Jamaica. The 32-year-old was given medical clearance to fight in the quarterfinal in the morning. Satish hanged in there but couldn't clinch the result in his favour.
