Kaneria Accuses Pak PM of Harboring Terrorists, Praises Modi

On an X post, 44-year-old Kaneria, a resident of the UK, was worried about the silence of Sharif regarding the recent Pahalgam attack. He had suggested that no words from Sharif were a strong indication that Pakistan was involved in such acts.

Former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has accused Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of "harboring and nurturing terrorists" and complimented Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on delivering a rare English-language speech with a strong anti-terror message.

Although Sharif himself has not denounced the attack, the Pakistan Foreign Office did express regret over the deaths. Kaneria did challenge the stance of the Pakistani government, however, by stating: "If Pakistan genuinely has no role in the Pahalgam terror attack, why hasn't Prime Minister @CMShehbaz denounced it yet? Why are your forces suddenly on high alert? Because deep down, you know the truth – you're sheltering and nurturing terrorists. Shame on you."

The Pahalgam attack on Tuesday claimed the lives of 26 people, the majority of whom were tourists, and was the deadliest attack in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the tragedy.

In another tweet, Kaneria, suspended from English county cricket for suspected spot-fixing, praised Prime Minister Modi for his strong words after the attack. In a move that is highly unprecedented, Modi delivered an English speech in which he vowed to "identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their supporters," announcing that India would pursue the attackers "to the ends of the earth" and ensuring that the nation's spirit would not be broken by terrorism.

I commend Prime Minister @narendramodi for opting to address his rally in English and ensuring the world hears his threat clear and loud. Hopefully, as it did in Gaza, this marks the end of the beginning of terrorism in South Asia," Kaneria tweeted on X.
