Emerging fast bowlers are often advised to balance pace with developing variations, yet Mayank Yadav received invaluable guidance from seasoned Delhi bowlers Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini: prioritize speed above all else.
Yadav, who recently clocked the IPL season's fastest delivery at 156.7 kmph against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), revealed insights from his conversations with his seniors. "Ishant bhai and Saini bhai emphasized that any new skill I aim to acquire should complement my natural pace," he shared. "They cautioned against compromising speed for other attributes."
While Yadav's primary goal remains taking wickets to bolster his team's success, he always maintains a focus on generating pace with each delivery. "My foremost aim is to contribute to the team's victories by taking wickets," he explained. "But I'm constantly mindful of maintaining pace in my bowling."
Despite his impressive performances, including a stellar 3/14 spell against RCB, Yadav remains grounded. "I don't fixate on my bowling speed during matches," he admitted. "Instead, I concentrate on delivering my best performance on the field."
