Cricket Australia has returned with an unprecedented surge in ticket sales from India ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, signaling immense enthusiasm for the fierce rivalry between India and Australia. There has been a six-fold increase from last season in tickets purchased by Indian fans, while for the Boxing Day Test, that number went up tenfold from 2018/19.
Joel Morrison, General Manager of Events & Operations at Cricket Australia, is excited as the influx of Indian supporters has come as a shot in the arm and promises them a warm reception. "We are thrilled by the number of Indian fans who are planning to travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. We are working hard to ensure everyone has a great experience, so we're confident this will be a series that will live long in memory."
For the first time in any Test Series on Australian Soil, Cricket Australia will introduce Indian Fan Zones across all venues. These have been specially created zones to ensure a lively and inclusive atmosphere for the Indian fans, loaded with fun and celebration during the seriaas.
Interest from corporate groups out of India also surged hugely for Hospitality and Premium Experience Packages for the Boxing Day Test.
Now, the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set to get underway with the First Test on November 22-26 at Perth Stadium, and it will set the tone for a day game. The series will then move to Adelaide Oval for the Second Test on December 6-10, with an added zing in the form of a day-night format. The third Test will be at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18, which will be followed by the marquee Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30. Then, from the 3rd to the 7th of January, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, what will be an explosive finish to what is going to be a hard-fought series.
