BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Unveils INR 125 Crore Prize for India's T20 World Cup Triumph

After the historic victory at Kensington Oval, Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, announced a prize purse of Rs. 125 crore for the champions of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

Rohit Sharma and his team made history as the first-ever champions to go undefeated throughout the T20 World Cup. Jay Shah also issued a media release on Sunday, praising the performance of the 'Men in Blue.'.

"Under the exceptional leadership of Rohit Sharma, this team has shown remarkable resilience and determination to achieve what no other team has achieved so far—winning ICC T20 World Cup without a single loss," Shah said in his statement.

After losing the 2023 ODI World Cup finals on their home ground against Australia and receiving severe criticism, India's win over South Africa became a redemption story celebrated all across the country.

"Many times through their performances, they have responded to their critics. This journey has been an inspiration, and from here, they have reached a point where very few could do what they achieved: bringing immense pride and joy to every Indian," added the statement from Jay Shah.
