Bairstow and Moeen Left Out as England Select Five Uncapped Players for T20Is Against Australia

Moeen was part of the England side that won the 2019 World Cup but Monday's omission is a massive pointer to the fact that the side has moved on from two of its biggest mainstays over the white-ball format over more than a decade.

England have omitted Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali from the white-ball squads, naming five uncapped players in the men's T20I squad for the forthcoming series against Australia.

Pace-bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan is another notable omission from England's white-ball squads, to be captained by Jos Buttler after the wicketkeeper-batter missed The Hundred because of a calf injury.

The all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who was included in these squads, is playing only in the T20I squad. Jofra Archer has also been named in both squads and is set to play his first ODI for England since the 2022/23 tour of Bangladesh.

While the veteran players were dropped, T20I call-ups went into the hands of Essex batter Jordan Cox, Warwickshire pair Jacob Bethell and Dan Mousley, Leicestershire seamer Josh Hull, and Hampshire fast bowler John Turner. Bethell, Turner, and Hull, added to the Test squad following the injury of Mark Wood for the Sri Lanka series, were also included in the England ODI squad for the Australia series.

Recently, Marcus Trescothick, former opening batsman of England, was only appointed as the interim coach after Matthew Mott led for the forthcoming England white-ball series against Australia.

Carse comes back into England's white-ball squads after serving a three-month suspension from all cricket imposed post an anti-corruption probe, while pacer Saqib Mahmood makes a return to the England set-up after getting over long-term fitness issues. Besides, the 50-over squad also includes current members of the Test team such as Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Matthew Potts, and Jamie Smith, with preparations beginning as England gear up for the 2025 ICC Champions.

England will kickstart their three-match T20I series against Australia with the opener of the series in Southampton's Utilaita Bowl on Friday the 11th of September. This will be further followed by a five-game ODI series against the same opposition starting on September 19 at Trent Bridge.
