Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of former Uddhav Sena MLA Vinod Ghosalkar, was a former corporator, while his father had served as an MLA from 2009 to 2014. The police have registered a case against Noronho under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.

The investigation has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch, with officials suspecting that the killing may have been the result of a rivalry between the two individuals. The Facebook live session was apparently arranged to address this rivalry and inform their followers that they had reconciled.
