"Vaiko Criticizes Congress Over Katchatheevu Dispute within INDIA Bloc"

The Katchatheevu dispute resurfaced recently following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's accusation that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had ceded the island to Sri Lanka in 1974.

Senior leader Vaiko from the MDMK party vehemently criticized the Congress regarding the Katchatheevu island matter. Notably, MDMK is a part of the opposition coalition led by the Congress.

Addressing the media in Tiruchi, where his son Durai Vaiko is contesting the Lok Sabha elections as an INDIA bloc candidate, Vaiko asserted that the Congress had betrayed Tamil Nadu on various fronts during that period.

Vaiko's strong stance, especially during the crucial phase of the Lok Sabha elections, has stirred concern within the INDIA bloc.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior Congress leader expressed their apprehension, stating, "Vaiko needs to realize that the Tiruchi constituency, where his son is contesting, is traditionally held by the Congress. Despite this, his criticism of the Congress could potentially impact his son's chances of winning."
