Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, currently vying for re-election from Kerala's Wayanad constituency, recently disclosed his financial details. In his submission to the returning officer as part of his nomination process, Gandhi outlined his financial status. He reported possessing Rs 55,000 in cash and Rs 26 lakh spread across various savings accounts. His total income for the fiscal year 2022-23 amounted to Rs 1.02 crore.
The details further revealed Gandhi's assets valued at Rs 9.24 crore, encompassing investments in equities, mutual funds, sovereign gold bonds, and other financial instruments. His income sources include his salary as the Wayanad MP, interest from banks, dividends, bonds, and royalties.
Moreover, Gandhi disclosed ownership of immovable assets valued at Rs 11.15 crore, comprising commercial buildings and both agricultural and non-agricultural land.
In the upcoming election, Gandhi faces competition from CPI leader Annie Raja, the wife of party General Secretary D. Raja, and K. Surendran, the BJP state President. Notably, in the 2019 polls, Gandhi secured a resounding victory, achieving the highest margin of victory by 4.31 lakh votes in the state.
The electoral battle in Kerala is set for April 26, marking the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, wherein all 20 MPs from the state will be elected.
