What had happened was that Khade had requested the party to field him in the Lok Sabha elections, a move that ran counter to the party's decision to field Shahu Maharaj Chhatrapati. The party, therefore, refused his request, and Khade took the decision to challenge the party's move by filing his nomination as an independent candidate. Interestingly, when Khade first joined Priyanka's team, his arrival in Kolhapur created a craze as the locals knew very little about him, and questions were asked why he was suddenly appearing in the political scene.
