Assam CM Suggests Rahul Gandhi Could Win Elections in Pakistan

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Sarma quipped, "Rahul Gandhi enjoys great popularity in Pakistan. Should he decide to run for office there, he would likely win by a substantial margin. It's clear he would be unbeatable in Pakistan."

In the midst of intense political discussions surrounding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's decision to contest from Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli, in addition to his candidacy in Kerala's Wayanad for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a sarcastic remark about Gandhi's potential popularity in Pakistan.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Sarma quipped, "Rahul Gandhi enjoys great popularity in Pakistan. Should he decide to run for office there, he would likely win by a substantial margin. It's clear he would be unbeatable in Pakistan."

Sarma's mocking comment was made just a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party at a campaign rally, insinuating that Pakistan would prefer Gandhi as India's Prime Minister.

Sarma added, echoing sentiments of a nationalistic fervor, "Here, the people's support is solidly behind the Modi Wave."

The jibe at Gandhi followed shortly after a former Pakistani minister praised him in a social media post that went viral, captioned "Rahul on fire." The ex-minister, Fawad Chowdhry, had commented on the necessity of thwarting Narendra Modi's continued leadership. This incident has intensified the barrage of criticisms directed at Gandhi by PM Modi and other BJP leaders.
