TDP Directs 16 Lok Sabha MPs to Support Om Birla in Speaker Election

In the directive, Amalapuram MP Harish Balayogi asked all the TDP MPs to assemble in room 111–B by 10:30 am on Wednesday.

"Harish Balayogi, whip of the Telugu Desam Party, issued a three-line whip to all TDP Members of Parliament, stipulating their presence and vote for the NDA candidate, Om Birla, in the Speaker election scheduled for June 26, 2024," said a TDP press release on Tuesday.

The TDP is a part of the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh, and it thus consists of BJP and Janasena. It secured 21 Lok Sabha seats, of which TDP secured 16. Further, Janasena won two and the BJP three, while its landslide victory was also witnessed in the Assembly elections.
