In a big diplomatic initiative after the ghastly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed 26 lives, the Indian government has said it will dispatch several all-party groups of Members of Parliament (MPs) to major countries across the globe.
One of the chosen representatives is NCP's Supriya Sule, who was grateful and felt a deep sense of responsibility upon her being appointed to this important diplomatic mission.
Commenting on the social media website X, Sule said, "I am privileged to be a part of the all-party delegation of India on the international platform. I accept this task humbly and thank Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Minister Kiren Rijiju ji and the Ministry of External Affairs. I am grateful to the people of Baramati Lok Sabha constituency for your continued support.". Our mission is to project India's united and unshakable message of zero tolerance for terrorism. We are one nation — proud, powerful, and uncompromising. Jai Hind!"
The central objective behind this project is to unveil Pakistan's suspected role in the Pahalgam attack and project a united Indian front in the global fight against terrorism.
This step is part of India's wider diplomatic counterattack aimed at securing international support in the fight against terrorism and highlighting Pakistan's alleged involvement in cross-border strikes.
Seven delegations will be constituted, each consisting of MPs belonging to different parties, high-ranking diplomats, and prominent political figures, as per the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Among the leading MPs who will lead these delegations are Congress's Shashi Tharoor, BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda, JD(U)'s Sanjay Kumar Jha, DMK's Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, NCP's Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena's Shrikant Eknath Shinde.
They will travel to major partner nations later this month, including members of the United Nations Security Council, to firmly put forward India's stance in a spirit of solidarity and determination. The government hopes for this cross-party initiative to make India's global message of zero tolerance towards terrorism more robust and to enhance global cooperation on security issues.
This diplomatic engagement also represents a singular instance of political cohesion in India, where political leaders from various parties come together to uphold the interests of the country and highlight India's firm position on international forums.
