VP Dhankhar Compares Operation Sindoor to U.S. Strike on Osama bin Laden in Pakistan (2011)

Addressing the Annual Convocation of Jaipuria Institute of Management at Bharat Mandapam, Dhankhar congratulated PM Modi and the armed forces on the success of Operation Sindoor.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor, comparing the annihilation of terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by the US forces in Abbottabad in 2011.

Addressing the Annual Convocation of Jaipuria Institute of Management at Bharat Mandapam, Dhankhar congratulated PM Modi and the armed forces on the success of Operation Sindoor. He termed the operation as "a remarkable retaliation befitting our ethos of peace and tranquility.". Bharat has done it and done it to the world's knowledge." He furthered, "Justice done by Bharat to sindoor in sublimity," making it a point that it was India's greatest cross-border attack, executed "cautiously, accurately, calibrated" to minimize collateral harm, attacking only the terrorists.

Though not directly referring to Osama bin Laden, Vice President pointed out that Operation Sindoor attacks were in May, as "on May 2 in 2011 a global terrorist who planned, supervised, and executed September 11 attack inside the US in 2001, was killed.". He was 'dealt with' by the US forces 'similarly'.” Dhankhar referred to the Pahalgam terror attack as the “deadliest” assault on Indian civilians since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He highlighted that PM Modi’s message from Bihar resonated globally: “Those were not empty words, the world has realised. What he said is a reality.”

Breaking a new precedent in counterterror operations, the Indian military targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) positions deep within Pakistan's Bahawalpur and also targeted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) camps in Muridke. Dhankhar also attacked Congress leaders who earlier made demands for evidence of the surgical strikes following the Uri attack, saying, "No one is asking for proof now.". The world has witnessed and accepted, and we have witnessed the drama of the fact that that nation is heavily involved in terrorism when coffins are escorted with armed forces and political authority behind them.

Earlier during his speech, the Vice President welcomed the positive environment prevailing in the country as a result of government policies, which provide tremendous opportunities to young graduates. He remarked, "Luckily for you, unlike us of the previous generation, in the nation there is a culture of hope and possibility." He motivated students by stating, "You all have an empowering eco-system, positive government policies that allow the fullest exploitation of talent and potential. You can achieve your dreams and aspirations."

He ended by encouraging students to adopt lifelong learning since, as he reminded them, convocation is not the end but a continuation of learning: "Always be a good learner and acquire the skill of self-learning."
