Smriti Irani Criticizes Congress Claim of Defending Democracy

Union Minister Smriti Irani strongly criticized the Congress party's claims of safeguarding democracy, questioning how it aligns with the party's affiliations with SDPI, the political wing of the banned PFI, and its alliance with DMK, which she accused of disrespecting the Constitution.

Speaking in a state known for its spiritual heritage and cultural richness, Irani emphasized the outrage when DMK leaders allegedly attack Sanatana Dharma, highlighting the party's perceived disregard for Hinduism.

Turning her criticism towards the Congress, Irani questioned its commitment to democracy while aligning with DMK, known for its historical protests including the purported burning of Babasaheb Ambedkar's Constitution during an anti-Hindi agitation in the late 1980s.

She accused the Congress of threatening the nation's stability even after electoral setbacks, casting doubt on its ability to uphold democracy.

Irani also pointed out the Congress party's alliance with the SDPI, a banned terrorist organization, in Kerala, questioning whether such associations can truly protect democracy.

Additionally, she challenged the opposition's INDIA bloc to name its Prime Ministerial candidate, contrasting it with NDA's choice of the incumbent PM Narendra Modi.

Asserting BJP's agenda of developing India, Irani criticized the lack of clarity in the INDIA alliance's goals, accusing them of having ulterior motives.
