Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia criticized Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for alleging that an “ED raid was in the works” against him.
Gandhi had asserted on Friday that the Enforcement Directorate was preparing to raid him in response to his 'Chakravyuh' speech delivered in Parliament on July 29.
In a post on X, Gandhi remarked, “It seems that 2 in 1 didn’t appreciate my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ are suggesting that a raid is imminent. I’m ready, @dir_ed. Chai and biscuits are on me.”
Scindia, who was previously a close associate of Gandhi and the Congress party, accused the Leader of Opposition of trying to “fabricate a narrative of negativity” with such a “groundless” assertion.
“Only those who have consistently misled and deceived the nation would make such a negative and unfounded statement,” Scindia said during a media interaction in Gwalior on Saturday.
The Union Minister also suggested that the Congress party struggles to accept the “progress and pride” the country has achieved over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“Congress has always favored a negative stance over progressive thinking,” Scindia added, explaining, “This negative approach is why the party finds itself in its current predicament.”
Scindia further claimed that the Congress, which is attempting to gain political traction through a caste-based census, has historically opposed various Commission recommendations, including those from the Mandal Commission.
“Congress resisted the Mandal Commission’s report as well as other recommendations from different Commissions,” Scindia noted.
Pointing out that the Congress’ combined Lok Sabha seat count from the 2014, 2019, and 2024 elections is lower than the BJP’s 2024 total, Scindia remarked, “Congress couldn’t secure a single seat in 13 states during the Lok Sabha elections. This reflects the party’s true state, and they should introspect before criticizing others.”
