Sanjay Nirupam Alleges Expulsion Following Resignation from Congress

In the letter, Nirupam stated, "I have finally decided to fulfill your much-awaited desire and hereby announce that I choose to resign from the primary membership of the All India Congress Committee." He requested acknowledgment of his resignation, which he dispatched on Wednesday evening.

Senior Congress figure Sanjay Nirupam claimed on Thursday that his expulsion from the party occurred shortly after he tendered his resignation. Taking to social media, Nirupam shared a succinct resignation letter dated April 3rd, wherein he humorously alluded to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

In the letter, Nirupam stated, "I have finally decided to fulfill your much-awaited desire and hereby announce that I choose to resign from the primary membership of the All India Congress Committee." He requested acknowledgment of his resignation, which he dispatched on Wednesday evening.

Accompanying the letter was Nirupam's commentary, in which he remarked, "Looks like, immediately after the party received my resignation letter last night, they decided to issue my expulsion. Good to see such promptness," subtly criticizing the swiftness of the party's action.

Expressing disappointment at not securing the nomination for the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat, the former journalist-turned-politician hinted at forthcoming decisions and pledged to provide a comprehensive statement later.

Nirupam's frustration became apparent following the announcement of Amol G. Kirtikar's candidacy by the Maha Vikas Aghadi ally Shiv Sena (UBT) for the aforementioned seat. He vehemently criticized the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress negotiators for their handling of the seat-sharing arrangement.

Additionally, without directly naming them, Nirupam launched veiled attacks on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, state Chief Patole, and Mumbai Chief Varsha Gaikwad, accusing them of capitulating to the Shiv Sena (UBT).

It's worth noting that Nirupam, a former two-time Rajya Sabha MP from the erstwhile Shiv Sena and a former Mumbai North Lok Sabha MP representing the Congress, has a history in both parties.

Perceiving his dissent, the state Congress excluded him from the party's list of star campaigners for the Lok Sabha elections.
