This decision was made shortly after a female temporary employee at the Raj Bhavan lodged a formal police complaint accusing Governor Bose of inappropriate behavior.
In a public declaration, the office of Governor Bose stated, “Due to slanderous and unconstitutional public remarks made about Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, Chandrima Bhattacharya, the junior gubernatorial appointee and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Finance Department, is now denied access to the Raj Bhavan facilities located in Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Barrackpore.”
Bhattacharya was among the first to comment following the emergence of the harassment allegations against the Governor. "It's baffling to see what's unfolding in the Raj Bhavan, especially on a day when the Prime Minister is visiting our state," she remarked.
According to the Raj Bhavan's press release, Governor Bose will also abstain from attending any events where Minister Bhattacharya is present.
Further, the Governor has extended this prohibition to police officers, barring them from entering the Raj Bhavan.
The statement detailed that the Governor had sought legal counsel from the Attorney General of India concerning additional legal actions against the Minister. It criticized the police investigation as “unauthorized, illegitimate, and politically motivated,” particularly during the election period.
Governor Bose refuted the allegations of molestation in a previous statement that evening, condemning it as a politically motivated smear campaign aimed at electoral gain. "Truth shall prevail. I will not be intimidated by fabricated stories. If this is someone’s strategy to derive electoral advantage by tarnishing my reputation, I wish them well. However, this will not deter my ongoing efforts to combat corruption and violence in Bengal," the statement declared.
