Scheduled for February 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to commence the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) electoral campaign for the impending Lok Sabha elections with a visit to Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh.
As confirmed by State BJP President VD Sharma on Monday, Modi will inaugurate the party's campaign targeting the 29 parliamentary seats in Madhya Pradesh. The state BJP has already initiated preparations for the Prime Minister's visit.
Recent appointments of BJP leaders Mahendra Singh and Satish Upadhyay as incharge and co-incharge for Madhya Pradesh have intensified efforts, with their arrival in Bhopal last week and meetings with state leaders already underway.
Having secured 28 out of 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh during the 2019 elections, the BJP aims to set a new record by claiming victory in all 29 seats this time. The Opposition Congress, historically less successful in the state's General Elections, expresses confidence in winning at least 15 Lok Sabha seats.
Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath's son, Nakul Nath, stands as the solitary Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, winning from Chhindwara in the previous election. Despite the party's past challenges, state Congress President Jitu Patwari asserted during a visit to the Gwalior-Chambal region that the Congress anticipates winning more than 15 seats in the upcoming General Elections.
