Prime Minister Modi Addresses Bengal's Development Gap, Vows Government Initiatives to Bridge Divide

"Bengal’s historical achievements have seen a significant slowdown post-Independence. Despite its vast potential, the state witnessed regression over the years. However, in the past 10 years, my administration has strived tirelessly to rectify this situation. This is evident in our focused approach towards the development of the railway network within the state," stated the Prime Minister during the inauguration of several central projects valued at Rs 15,000 crore in Krishnanagar, Nadia district, West Bengal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Saturday that despite its abundant potential, West Bengal has lagged behind since Independence. He highlighted his government's efforts over the past decade to address this gap and push for progress in the state.

Recognizing West Bengal's significance in the eastern region of India, PM Modi reiterated his government's commitment to enhancing rail, road, and air connectivity in the state.

He stressed the pivotal role of power connectivity in fostering regional development, expressing his desire for West Bengal to attain self-sufficiency in this aspect. Consequently, his government is actively pursuing measures to achieve this goal.

"In a recent event held in Arambagh, Hooghly district, projects worth over Rs 7,000 crore were inaugurated. Today's inauguration accounts for projects worth over Rs 15,000 crore. In just two days, a total of over Rs 22,000 crore worth of projects have been initiated. These initiatives are poised to create new avenues for youth employment and income generation," added the Prime Minister.

PM Modi is also slated to address a political rally organized by the BJP's state unit in West Bengal later on Saturday.
