Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi heralded the beginning of the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign for the Lok Sabha elections from the auspicious location of 'fortunate Yavatmal'. He inaugurated a series of projects totaling approximately Rs 35,000 crore and criticized the previous UPA government for its involvement in corruption.
Speaking before a large audience predominantly consisting of women, PM Modi reminisced about his previous visits to Yavatmal during election campaigns – one notably for a 'chai pe charcha' session in 2014, preceding the NDA's victory with 300 parliamentary seats, and another in 2019, when the ruling alliance secured over 350 seats.
This time, PM Modi expressed his confidence in surpassing the 400-seat mark in the Lok Sabha, citing the resolute determination of the people encapsulated in the slogan 'Ab Ki Baar, Modi Sarkar, 400 paar'. PM Modi reiterated his commitment to extending development to every remote corner of the country and devoting himself entirely to this cause. He emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of four key demographics – the poor, farmers, youth, and women – and highlighted the inauguration of various schemes and projects aimed at their welfare, totaling significant financial investments.
Furthermore, PM Modi underscored the government's initiatives to enhance connectivity in the Vidarbha region through rail, road, and other infrastructure projects. Taking aim at the opposition, he questioned the effectiveness of previous administrations, particularly during the UPA era, when funds allocated for development were allegedly misappropriated.
Highlighting the contrast, PM Modi emphasized the transparency and efficiency of his government's schemes, exemplified by the direct transfer of funds to farmers' bank accounts. He underscored the significance of these initiatives, which have resulted in substantial financial assistance reaching farmers across Maharashtra and the nation.
PM Modi reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening the rural economy, addressing issues such as water scarcity, and completing pending irrigation projects. He emphasized the transformative impact of schemes like 'Har Ghar Jal', which have significantly increased access to piped water in rural households.
Additionally, PM Modi outlined the government's plans to empower women, aiming to uplift three crore women to economic prosperity through initiatives like the NaMo Drone Didi scheme.
