In a fervent address on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the far-reaching impact of what he termed the "storm of Sandeshkhali" across West Bengal, underscoring the significant role of 'Nari Shakti' or woman power in reshaping the state's political landscape.
Expressing deep concern, Modi condemned the distressing events that transpired in Sandeshkhali, labeling them as a blot on society. The region, located on a riverine island in the North 24 Parganas district, has been engulfed in turmoil due to allegations of sexual violence against women and illicit land acquisition orchestrated by Shajahan Sheikh, a suspended leader of the ruling TMC, and his associates.
Modi asserted that the ruling TMC leadership has been perpetrating atrocities against women hailing from impoverished, Dalit, and tribal communities across various regions. He highlighted the palpable anger among the women of Bengal and the nation at large, predicting that the momentum generated by the Sandeshkhali incident will reverberate throughout West Bengal, ultimately leading to the downfall of the TMC across the state.
