Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his vision on Tuesday to have an Indian product grace every dining table globally, focusing particularly on boosting agricultural exports. Speaking at a Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi, he emphasized the need for flawless products, highlighting millets and organic produce. Modi underscored agriculture's pivotal role in propelling India to become the world's third-largest economy.
Prime Minister said, "We need zero defect products with a focus on millets and organic produce. Agriculture will be a major factor in making India the third biggest economy in the world.”
During his first visit to Varanasi since assuming office for the third consecutive term, Modi disbursed Rs 20,000 crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme benefiting over 9.26 crore farmers. He also honored more than 30,000 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) as 'Krishi Sakhis', underlining their role in rural transformation through the Krishi Sakhi Convergence Programme (KSCP). This initiative aims to empower rural women as Para-extension Workers, aligning with the 'Lakhpati Didi' programme's goals.
Recognizing the significant contribution of women to agriculture, Modi highlighted their pivotal role, noting India's 31 crore women voters, the highest globally. He drew a comparison with the G7 nations' combined electorate size, emphasizing India's democratic strength.
"Kashi has elected me not just as an MP, but as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. Your faith is my treasure. It inspires me to work doubly hard and fulfil your aspirations,” he said.
“The Lok Sabha polls showed the vastness, strength and vibrancy of our democracy, and also its strong roots,” he added.
Addressing his constituency, Modi expressed gratitude for their unwavering support, seeing his election not just as an MP but as Prime Minister thrice consecutively. He underscored the electorate's mandate during the recent Lok Sabha elections, celebrating India's vibrant democracy and Kashi's heritage and developmental progress.
