Rahul to appear before ED today

His appearance was initially scheduled for June 17, but the senior Congress leader wrote to the ED to postpone his questioning citing illness of his mother Sonia Gandhi. Accepting his request, the probe agency asked him to appear on Monday. For three consecutive days last week, Rahul Gandhi had been grilled for about 30 hours amid widespread Congress protests in the national capital against their leader being questioned.

She made the announcement in a tweet, where she apologised to residents of Delhi's Rajendra Nagar for not attending a programme organised by the BJP, ahead of the June 23 Assembly bypoll there. "I seek pardon of Rajendra Nagar's people for not being able to take part in the programme organised there, as my Covid test has come out positive," she said in the Hindi tweet, while appealing to people to vote for the BJP candidate.

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, "Tomorrow lakhs of Congress workers across the country will continue peaceful protest against the anti-youth Agnipath scheme & against Modi Govt's vendetta politics targeting its leader Shri Rahul Gandhi, MP." He also said that Congress delegation will meet President Ram Nath Kovind in the evening.
Mamata might skip Pawar's meeting on Prez polls, depute Abhishek

Officially, the Trinamool leadership is stating that her most likely absence in the meeting convened by Pawar will be because of her pre-scheduled appointment on that day. However, party insiders said that the actual reasons might be the growing grievances in the mind of the Chief Minister over certain developments since she convened a similar meeting on this count at New Delhi's Constitution Club on June 15.

Priyanka Gandhi said, "No one is a greater patriot than the youth. I talked to many youths when I was arrested in Uttar Pradesh. I saw youths who were preparing, waiting for recruitment in the army. Found many who said there is no hope left and are now going to sell sugarcane." Appealing to the youth, she said, "Throw out the government in a democratic, peaceful and non-violent way. Bring a government that is true to the nation and protects the country's assets."

While inspecting the newly inaugurated tunnel, Modi picked up an empty plastic water bottle and a few other items that had been thrown away. He was seeing the paintings made of the inner wall of the tunnel. Tweeting a video of this, Amit Malviya, the West Bengal BJP co-incharge said, "Commitment to cleanliness is an article of faith for the Prime Minister. Even at the inauguration of the ITPO tunnel, he made it a point to pick up garbage and lead by example."
Rajnath Singh meets service chiefs for 2nd day amid Agnipath protests

On Saturday, the Defence Minister held a meeting with Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar and IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari. After the meeting, Rajnath Singh announced that the government will reserve 10 per cent jobs in the Defence Ministry for Agniveers. Similarly, the Union home ministry has also announced a ten per cent quota in the Central Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles.
Centre has taken steps to solve problems of Delhi-NCR in last 8 yrs: PM Modi

The Prime Minister was speaking after dedicating the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor to the nation. He said, "In the last eight years, we have taken unprecedented steps to solve the problems of Delhi-NCR. Metro service in Delhi-NCR has expanded from 193 kms to 400 kms in the last eight years." The Prime Minister also appealed to people to use the metro for commuting. Modi congratulated the people of Delhi-NCR for receiving a beautiful gift of modern infrastructure from the Union government.
Congress takes a step back for Opposition unity on President poll

The Congress is not pushing anybody's candidature and will go with the opposition's choice for the sake of opposition unity. Sources say that Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge made the point in the meeting convened by Mamata Banerjee on June 15 that the party is aware that many of the parties around this table compete with each other in assembly elections. But that has not prevented this meeting from taking place.
