Rajasthan Council of Ministers passes resolution seeking repeal of Agnipath scheme
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at the Chief Minister's residence here on Saturday. At the meeting, the Council of Ministers expressed concern over the nationwide protests against the Agnipath scheme. It was stated during the meeting that to maintain the dignity and prestige of the Indian Army, it is necessary to have skill, experience and stability in the force.

Sanjay Jaiswal also asked the Nitish Kumar government to take adequate measures or face the consequences. Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United reacted strongly, with its national President Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh claiming Jaiswal had "lost his mental balance, while Parliamentary Board President Upendra Kushwaha saying that they do not take the BJP leader's statements seriously.
Agnipath protests: Commuters stranded as several trains cancelled
People could be seen sitting wherever they found a place to lie down amidst a long wait for their trains. Several sat on the platform while many found a place next to the ticket counters. According to the Indian Railways, 369 trains were cancelled on Saturday due to the protest against the Agneepath scheme. This included 210 mail and express trains and 159 local passenger trains. The Union Cabinet had on Tuesday approved the 'Agnipath' recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the Armed Forces.

'Y' category security provided to BJP leaders in Bihar
The Centre's move came after Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal blamed the state police for allegedly remaining silent even when properties of BJP leaders were vandalised by the protesters. Those who have been provided 'Y' category security include Jaiswal, Deputy CM Renu Devi, Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad, Sanjiv Chaurasia, Haribhushan Thakur, Araria MP Pradeep Singh, Darbhanga MP Gopal Ji Thakur, MLC Ashok Agrawal, MLC Dilip Jaiswal, Sanjay Sarawgi and Vijay Khemka.

A total of 11 candidates are vying for the 10 MLC seats vide the electoral college comprising 288 MLAs, though effectively 285 shall vote in the elections on Monday (June 20). ED issues notice to Swapna Suresh to appear on June 22
Swapna had deposed before the magistrate court under Section 164 of the CrPC and had come out in the media that the Chief Minister and his family including his wife and daughter were involved in the smuggling racket. She had given a secret statement before the court under Section 164 which was accessed by the Enforcement Directorate. The ED has now served notice to Swapna Suresh on the basis of this 27-page statement.

Kharge slams Agnipath, says Cong to protest from Sunday
"No soldier will come out well trained if aspirants of armed forces are given training for four years and then make them retire," Kharge said here on Saturday. "It is not fair to recruit soldiers for armed forces on the basis of contract and daily-wages," he said. The candidates need more time to know about security forces. If they are asked to leave the force after 4 years, how is it possible? Kharge questioned.
