The DMK MP shouted at an official, and sought to know why the 'Imam' and Christian priest were not present. He also asked for the presence of atheist leaders as well as Dravidar Kazhagam representatives. "Do you have instructions or not that the government functions should not be held like this. Are you aware or not?" he asked an official.
BJD to support NDA's Vice Presidential nominee Dhankhar
The BJD has decided to extend its support to Dhankhar after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over phone and sought his support, party General Secretary, Media affairs, Manas Mangaraj said in a tweet. Some senior BJD leaders are also likely to remain present during the filing nomination papers by Dhankhar on July 19, he said. The tenure of present Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu is going to end on August 10.
Chirag attends NDA President poll mock drill but says not part of grouping
Chirag Paswan on Sunday too insisted that he was not part of the National Democratic Alliance and would only decide political tie-ups when the next elections approach. Bengal BJP houses all its MLAs in hotel on eve of Presidential polls
Currently the BJP's strength in the Assembly is 70. However, on Sunday noon, only 69 MLAs were housed at the New Town hotel. The one left out was Bhatpara MLA, Pawan Singh, son of its Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh, who had recently rejoined the ruling Trinamool Congress. Since Pawan Singh is yet to make his stand clear as yet, the state BJP leadership is not counting on him.

The name of Alva, who has also been Governor of Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, and hails from Karnataka, was decided after opposition parties met at NCP supremo's Sharad Pawar residence. The NDA has fielded West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar for the post. BJP chief J.P. Nadda announced the name of Dhankhar after the Parliamentary Board meeting at party headquarters on Saturday evening.

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said, "The issue of Chinese incursion, foreign policy, changes in Forest Conservation Act and attack on Kashmiri Pandits and Congress leaders need to be discussed in the House." The opposition took up 13 issues in the meeting while the government wants to pass 32 Bills, Kharge said.

A joint movement on this count is absolutely necessary to give it the shape of a nationwide mass movement," Chowdhury said.
