Ghulam Nabi Azad's resignation adds third dimension to forthcoming Jammu & Kashmir polls

While the election commission has already set the electoral ball rolling in the Union Territory by revision of electoral rolls and their final publication before December, sources have denied the possibility of these being held in 2022. Same sources told IANS that the assembly elections in J&K are likely to be held in the spring of 2023.

He sent his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Azad said that he has severed all ties with the Congress. In his resignation letter, Azad said that he was tendering his resignation with a "heavy" heart. He said that before starting 'Bharat Jodo', the Congress should have started the 'Congress Jodo'.

Azad had earlier resigned as the head of the Congress campaign committee in J&K. This was followed by some of his loyalists resigning from the Congress. Azad joined the Congress in the mid 1970s and has held many important positions both in the party and the government.
Sonali Phogat was taken to Goa on pretext of film shoot, claims her brother

"Sudhir Sagwan (PA of Phogat) told us that film shooting was there on August 24. But hotel rooms were booked only for two days, on August 22 and 23. There was no film shoot. It was false. We didn't see any actor or film shoot here," Rinku Dhaka, the brother of Sonali Phogat, told reporters here on Thursday.
