Court rejects Jain's plea seeking special food

Satyendar Jain is lodged in Tihar jail in connection with a money laundering case. On Saturday, the prison administration stated there is no request available with the office of the Superintendent Central Jail where Jain had informed about himself observing fast in accordance with his religious beliefs. Hence, the prison admisnistration is no way liable to provide him food according to his fast.

A report by Association of Democratic Reforms on Saturday disclosed that out of 1,336 candidates analyzed, 139 (10 per cent) candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. In 2017 MCD elections, out of 2315 candidates analysed, 173 (7 per cent) had declared criminal cases against themselves. In these MCD polls, 76 (6 per cent) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves while in 2017 MCD elections, 116 (5 per cent) candidates had declared serious criminal cases against themselves.
Drunk on power, Owaisi on Amit Shah's Gujarat riots remark

Owaisi took to Twitter to hit back at Amit Shah and tweeted, "Drunk high on power, India's home minister said we taught a lesson in 2002." The AIMIM leader reminder Shah that power is not permanent. "After coming to power, some people forget that power does not always remain with someone," wrote Owaisi, who is currently campaigning for All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidates in Gujarat Assembly elections.

Addressing mediapersons after his deputy Manish Sisodia's name did not find any mention in the CBI chargesheet filed on Friday, Kejriwal said: "CBI filed the chargesheet yesterday. Manish Sisodia's name is not there. CBI has given clean chit to him. CBI and ED were working day and night to frame Sisodia but could not find even an iota of evidence against him."

In the video, said to be of September 12, Jain can be seen interacting with four persons when the Superintendent arrives. As per sources, the jail authorities have initiated an inquiry into the matter as to how the CCTV footage are being leaked. Jain has also moved a court in this regard. The Tihar Authority is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.

The EC in 2005 had decided not to register any more parties using religious names or symbols. The EC, in a written response, said that in 2005, it had taken a policy decision, whereby it was decided that political parties having religious name/connotation would not be registered thereon under Section 29A of the Representation of People's (RP) Act, 1951.

The BJY that is being led by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was passing through Khargone district on Friday. Khargone was in news earlier this year after communal riots were reported in April. The riot had led to the death of one person, while over 20 were injured. More than 200 arrests were made in connection with the incident.

Border firing: Meghalaya CM meets NHRC officials, seeks action

"The firing incident was a clear violation of human rights by the Assam Police who killed 5 civilians from Meghalaya and an Assam Forest Guard. The central agency would inquire into the matter," Meghalaya Chief Minister Sangma said in a video message after meeting the NHRC.
