Stage set for Yediyurappa's son Vijayendra's entry into Karnataka cabinet

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday announced that the core committee of the party has decided to reccommend the name of Vijayendra for the post of MLC. Yediyurappa proposed the name of Vijayendra in the core committee meeting. "We will send his name to the high command, which will take a call on the matter," Bommai stated. The development has triggered debates in the political circles as well as within the BJP.

Sources in the Congress confirmed that its state unit chief D.K. Shivakumar and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah have already approached Priyanka Gandhi on this matter. They have reportedly explained to the Congress leader that her grandmother late Indira Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi had earlier contested elections from Karnataka and emerged victorious. While Indira Gandhi had contested from Chikkamagaluru in 1978, Sonia Gandhi contested from Ballari in 1999.

He said the BJP has the right to go before the people of Telangana with its ideology and programme. "KCR wants to make Telangana another Bengal. This circular was issued in response to the state Chief Electoral Officer's correspondence dated April 28 It states that it is an election-related top priority. The subject reads "For fair, just, and fearless elections." This indicates early assembly elections which are due in December 2022. However, the village panchayat elections due in May are postponed by the state Election Commission and administrators are appointed in 2,400 village panchayats. No other elections are due in the near future.
Marathi actress arrested for vitriolic post on Sharad Pawar

The development followed a complaint registered with Kalwa Police by NCP leader Swapnil Netke against Chitale, 30, who shared a Marathi verse denigrating Pawar and resulting in a political furore. Subsequently, she was taken to the Kalamboli Police Station in Navi Mumbai which arrested her, even as other complaints have been lodged against her in Mumbai, Nashik, Pune and different cities.
Status quo on all places of worship should be maintained: Chidambaram

The Rajya Sabha member was reacting to the ongoing Gyanvapi mosque row. "Places of worship Act was passed by the Narasimha Rao government with the lone exception of Ram Janmabhoomi. All other places should have status quo as any kind of change could lead to a huge conflict," he said.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, Gupta said that whether it is one corporation or three, the drive will continue to make Delhi free from encroachments even after next week. "Bulldozer will continue to remove encroachments and illegal constructions after unification of the three municipal corporations," he said. He pointed out that rolling out the bulldozers is a routine work activity and regularly carried by the municipal corporations across the city but some people are giving a religious colour to it.

Most governments in the country, mainly BJP-led governments, are now betting on the bulldozer that is apparently bringing in more bouquets than brickbats. The bulldozer first gained prominence in the Yogi Adityanath government in July 2020 when this mean machine was used to pull down the house of gangster Vikas Dubey in Bikru village in Kanpur.
