Congress not to contest MLC elections in Bihar
The decision was taken after a meeting of state leaders including Congress Legislature Party leader Ajit Sharma and state unit president Madan Mohan Jha. "The number of Congress MLAs in Vidhan Sabha is not adequate. Hence, we have decided not to contest the MLC election," Sharma said. Jha said: "We have informed the political situation and current position of Congress party with the top leadership of the party."

Kamal launched the MNM with the thought that he would fill the void of the passing away of AIADMK's J. Jayalalithaa and DMK's M. Karunanidhi, the two stalwarts of Tamil politics. Satyendar Jain complains of uneasiness, taken to hospital
The minister was being taken to Enforcement Directorate (ED)'s headquarters when he felt uneasy outside the court and was taken to the hospital by the ED officials. Counsel appearing for Jain said that a bail application has been moved on his behalf. Jain was produced before Rouse Avenue Court in the morning after the expiry of his custodial remand in connection with a money laundering case.

After hearing the argument, the court allowed the ED plea and extended the custodial remamd of Jain by five more days. The Enforcement Directorate had recently conducted raids at multiple locations belonging to Jain and his known persons, including relatives. A recovery of cash worth Rs 2.85 crore and 133 gold coins weighing 1.80 kg was made.

Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta told IANS that all the relevant political and social issues of the national capital will be discussed during the meeting. He also urged the Election Commission to cancel DMK's election symbol and requested the poll panel to allow him to argue his case before it. Nitish Kumar rules out attempt of religious conversion in Bihar
Reacting to rumours of religious conversion taking place in Saran district, Kumar said that the administration is on high alert to check any kind of conversion in the state. "There is no truth in the reports of religious conversion in Bihar. The administrations of all the districts are on high alert, keeping a close tab on any unusual development," Kumar said.
