On Sunday, party General Secretary Randeep Surjewala tweeted: "Congress President Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Ganga Ram Hospital today owing to Covid-related issues. She is stable and will be kept at the hospital for observation. We thank all the Congressmen & women as also all well wishers for their concern and good wishes."
ED raids multiple places linked to Satyendar Jain
Satyendar Jain was arrested on May 30 by the ED under section 19 of the PMLA. According to the sources, the ED officials were conducting raids at the office of a renowned public school chain. The school is being run by a trust. Its promoter and directors are being grilled as they have connections in the Jain case. The ED officials have not given any official reaction on this so far now.
BJP eyeing non-NDA parties who skipped Mamata meet for support
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief had sent invites for a meeting of opposition leaders to build consensus on a joint opposition candidate. Prominent names who skipped the opposition meet were Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), K. Chandrasekhar Rao's Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
Agnipath scheme should be kept in abeyance, Congress asks govt
The party said the scheme is controversial, carries multiple risks, subverts the long-standing traditions and ethos of the armed forces and there is no guarantee that the soldiers recruited under the scheme will be better trained and motivated to defend the country. Addressing a press conference, P. Chidambaram and Sachin Pilot said that retired defence officers have opposed the scheme and believe that many serving officers share the same reservations about it.
'Demolitions have to be in accordance with law', SC on plea against 'bulldozer action' in UP
Issuing notice to the state, the apex court bench of Justices A.S. Bopanna and Vikram Nath orally remarked that the demolitions can't be a retaliatory measure. "Everything should look fair, we expect the authorities to act only in accordance with the law. Ensure safety so that nothing untoward happens," noted the top court. The matter will be further heard next week.
ED grills Rahul Gandhi for third consecutive days, Congress enraged
Utter scenes of chaos prevailed throughout the day outside the Congress headquarters and the ED office. The party workers were being detained every then and now. Video and images of Congress workers, including women being forcibly carried from the roads, as they were lying down, went viral on social media.

EC issues notification for presidential polls, 11 file nominations
As per the notification, the nominations can be filed till June 29 and the scrutiny of the papers will be held on June 30. The last date for withdrawing from the electoral fray is July 2. The counting will take place on July 21. As per a source, 11 candidates filed the nomination for the country's top constitutional post after the notification was issued. However, one nomination was rejected due to incomplete documents, the source said.
Rahul Gandhi gets a day's rest, to be grilled again on Friday
An ED source said the agency will question Rahul Gandhi again on Friday. "He has been given a day's rest," the source said. On Tuesday, the three-member team recording his statements questioned Rahul Gandhi till past 10 p.m. following which the Congress leader left the ED headquarters at around 11:45 p.m. On Monday, his questioning had ended at about 9 p.m. However, since he reportedly wanted to correct a few parts of his statements, he had to wait for a few more hours at the ED headquarters here.
Will field joint candidate to stop Modi govt from further damaging democracy: Opposition
A resolution passed in the opposition parties' Wednesday meeting, called to decide a joint candidate for next month's Presidential poll, said that they will field a common candidate to stop the Narendra Modi government from "doing further damage to Indian democracy and India's social fabric". Sources, however, said that the meeting turned chaotic over the resolution, accusing the Modi government, placed by Banerjee without prior notice.
