Rajasthan BJP chief C P Joshi on Wednesday launched a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that people who "consume beef" today have been displaying photographs of Lord Shiva in Parliament.
Joshi said this during a party meeting in Dausa this Wednesday. A video made in similar circumstances is now going viral on social media.
"While the atmosphere is highly charged at the international border in the continuous India-China conflict, Rahul Gandhi is seen sitting with the Chinese ambassador. Those who consume beef bring pictures of Mahadev to Parliament. This is something which should not happen," said Joshi without taking anyone's name.
He said Hindus cannot be mute spectators and that if someone calls them terrorists, accuses them of violence, and is anti the Ram Mandir, then we remain silent and all those doing narabazi of the President Droupadi Murmu over her skin colour will continue without fear.
On July 1, in the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Gandhi displayed pictures of Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, and Jesus Christ to illustrate the presence of fearlessness in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism, and Jainism.
He spoke about the teachings of Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, Jesus Christ, Buddha, and Mahavir, saying that all religions and great figures in the country advocate the message "daro mat, darao mat" (do not fear, do not instill fear).
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi, went on to take swipes at the BJP and its leaders, accusing the lot of them of being the biggest leaders in dividing this country along communal lines.
"'Shivji says daro mat, darao mat', he shows abhay mudra and preaches ahimsa, and you who call yourselves the Hindus live a life of constant hating, fighting and doing falsehoods," he said, addressing BJP MPs.
