Narendra Modi, after being chosen as the leader of the NDA Parliamentary party on Friday, praised the coalition partners on their triumph and criticized the Congress-led INDIA bloc for their stance on Lok Sabha numbers.
The Prime Minister-designate characterized the 2024 victory as one of the most significant for the BJP-led alliance. He noted that despite the Opposition's loss, they were trying to portray it as a defeat for the NDA and a victory for the INDIA bloc.
He pointed out that the Congress party failed to even reach the 100 mark this time, and their combined numbers from the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Lok Sabha elections still fell short of the BJP's strength in this single election. Yet, they still attempt to undermine our victory, he remarked.
"This highlights their hypocrisy and their eagerness to spread false narratives," he added.
In the 2024 polls, the BJP secured 240 seats in the 545-member Parliament, while the Congress party managed to win 99 seats. In the 2014 and 2019 elections, Congress won 44 and 52 seats respectively, bringing their total to 195, which is 45 less than the BJP’s 2024 tally.
The PM-designate also mocked the INDIA bloc for their complaints about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), suggesting that although the issue may have subsided for now, the Opposition will likely revive it as a campaign point in the 2029 elections.
"Is the EVM issue alive or dead?" he questioned, making fun of the Opposition.
He criticized the Opposition's 'medieval and regressive' tactics, stating they always attempted to obstruct the introduction of new technology.
"From UPI to Aadhar, they found faults with every new initiative. This reflects their outdated thinking," he stated.
He further predicted that the INDIA bloc is headed for a severe decline, as they have consistently failed to comprehend the country's values and belief system.
